Laxey Wedding, Isle of Man

Wedding photography can be straightforward, or not.  Light levels can be low in a venue, or it can be an outdoor venue with wind and rain!  As I arrived at the quaint Manx town of Laxey on the Isle of Man, the damp air didn’t bode well for an outdoor wedding ceremony.  The bride, groom, family and friends, all crossed fingers and awaited for the mizzle (too much for mist, to little for drizzle) to pass over.  The role of a Wedding Photographer is a high pressure.

The type of light rain were were experiencing was a wedding photographer’s nightmare.  Firstly it’s difficult to turn one’s back on rain that is floating around in all directions, and secondly, those tiny droplets can and do end up on the camera lens.  As a professional photographer you hope for a simple wedding shoot, but more often than not, especially in the British Isles, the weather has other ideas.

Roger & Kirsty decided to throw caution to the wind and plough on with the outdoor wedding ceremony as planned; and thank heavens they did!  The bride and groom were blessed with an almost perfectly timed window of dry weather.  Once the ceremony was complete, the heavens softly opened upon the newly weds whilst they registered their marriage.

If you’re thinking of an outdoor wedding, simple white umbrellas are always worth having in the locker.  They can be a life saver…. Want to go a step further?  Grab some white wellies for the bride!  You could even go for designer wellies if you wanted!  It is your big day after all!!!
